New test shows why it is important to choose Q10 carefully
As consumers we want to feel safe when making purchases online, especially when it comes to products like Q10 where we pay for an expected effect. A new test of Q10 preparations, however, reveals that even respected websites have problems with fraudulent manufacturers.
Coenzyme Q10 has become one of the most popular and widely used preparations and that stands to reason. Many consumers buy Q10 online and should be able to do so without doubting the quality of their purchases. However, a new test of Q10 brands sold by amazon.com, an international website, reveals, unfortunately, that people are at risk of being shortchanged if they don’t pay attention. Nutraingredients.com has reported about the study

Seven out of eight products failed
The test was made by an American company that had discovered several years ago how few Q10 products met minimum quality standards. The company’s efforts have been recognized by several industry awards and is welcomed by the supplement industry.
In the most recent test, eight Q10 products that failed in previous examinations were put to the test again. It turned out that quality problems persisted for seven of the products. It also became apparent that there were discrepancies between the declared and the actual Q10 content in many cases.

Much too low dose
For example, the manufacturers of four different brands used the same product name on the label: “CoQ10 400 mg Max Strength”. On the back, however, they wrote “400 mg/6% potency”. In other words, the consumer only gets 24 mg of Q10 with each pill, which is less than half of the lowest dose used in clinical studies. In fact, daily doses of 100-300 mg are often used in scientific tests.
Absorption is completely ignored
Like the majority of consumer tests of Q10 brands, the above-mentioned study fails to focus on the single most important parameter, which is absorption.
Of course, it is relevant to look at how much Q10 (in mg) is in a product, but if the active ingredient is not properly absorbed in the blood and distributed to the body’s different tissues, it really doesn’t make much sense to worry about how much is in the product.

Q10 with scientific documentation
As one of very few manufacturers, Pharma Nord can present scientific documentation showing that the Q10 content in its different Q10 preparations is effectively absorbed. Even more importantly, many of the published studies that have been conducted using Pharma Nord’s Q10 formulation show that the active ingredient has good bioavailability. This is the case with large, internationally acknowledged studies like KiSel-10 (International Journal of Cardiology, 2013) and Q-Symbio (JACC, Heart Failure, 2014).
